A life saving and life affirming comic

Imagine you’re a young person living in rural or outback Australia. You know that you’re different from your friends and you’re doing research on the Internet to find out what is wrong and to find out what is different about you.

It’s hard though because your Internet connection isn’t good and you only have a certain amount of time that your parents allow you to do your web surfing and you delete your search history every time because you’re scared.

You have a secret that you know you cannot share in your family because you don’t feel thar your gender fits you.

Your research leads you to a web comic that comes originally from Canada and you identify with the trans girl hero of the story. This web comic has all sorts of positive themes about the transgender experience and you find solace in knowing you are not alone, you’re not some kind of freak and you know, one day, you’ll follow your destiny and be the person you are supposed to be.

This amazing web comic is ‘Assigned Male‘ drawn by the wonderfully talented Sophie Labelle who has adoring fans all over the planet.

There is absolutely no doubt that Sophie and her messages of positivity has saved many lives and allowed transgender people discovering their identities, (we call them ‘eggs’), to ‘hatch out’ to be the fine, beautiful transgender beings that they truly are.

Sophie and her web comic and books delight readers everywhere and she is saving lives everyday, everywhere.

Come along and see her talk about her work on 17/3/23 at Tuggeranong Arts Centre from 1800-2100. Tickets can be purchased from Humantix.
